I can't help myself. Maybe it's because I spent many many hours setting Arca up, but I still feel an attachment to those buildings and the stuff inside. Because of this, I took advantage of the free trial (which still worked as of last night, btw) and saved my buildings. Big thanks to Lorcan for giving me the credits to do so. Few things I want to see saved... Zubin, if you see this message.. I would hate to see Fatal Hexes poof! Summer, apparently, the PA hall is owned by you. Since I would hate to lose the FX-Wing, is it possible at all for you to peek in SWG real quick and transfer the lots over? I'm also going to try to get in touch with Obos to see if we can save TAB. It's not the same without Obos, I know... but there are several very rare items in there I would like to save. (Also, I've noted there's also "The Rotten Bothan" cantina in our city! I guess Rogue set up a cantina of our own. It looks AWESOME inside!) If anyone else is taking advantage of the free trial right now, look for me piddling around here and there.

Greetings FXers,
Yes, some of us are still playing. And as I read this thread, I thought I might add some thoughts...
In case there is some misunderstanding, structures will NOT be demolished. They will be auto-packed up and placed in the owner's datapad. (Yes, even if the account is not active). If someone should decide to return to the game, the structure can be unpacked and placed. This means that the X-wing won't be lost, it will still be in the packed up PA hall. SWG has extended house pack-up to PA halls, vendor tents, etc. Practically every structure can be packed up now.
On a personal note, those of us who are still playing would prefer that structures be packed up if the owner hasn't played for a year. ROGUE was and is grateful for being invited to Arca, and we've spent a couple of years waiting to place our PA hall in the city. (the SYN PA hall is still there).
It is our intention to move the shuttle and the cloner back to their original locations. They were moved to accommodate those of us still playing regularly, but who were living on the edge of town. Rogue has about a dozen regular players, some occasional players, and there are some non-ROGUE members who play regularly. Those critical structures need to be near city center, especially on the chance that the city might shrink.
Also, in the pack-up FAQ, the 14 day temporary trial does allow you to login your old toon, but this will NOT keep a structure from being packed up. Only a paid account will do that. Maintenance placed on a structure will keep it from being "condemned" but not from being labeled "Abandoned" for pack-up.
We have worked hard to keep the city alive, and after the egregious insult that SOE did to players, I doubt many will want to return. But we miss you, and it is our intention to keep going.
Best wishes to all, Esse

Oh, man. I am in Germany right now on business so I don't know exactly when I'll be back in order to do that, bloo. Dnagit. But, if it's a guildhall, whoever is in the guild SHOULD be able to claim it, right? They did something like that with guildhalls that are actually guilded, I believe. Well, if I get back in time I'll definitely reinstall the game and get in, but I have a feeling I won't be back before this 14 day trial is over.

I feel much better now that I know that structures will be packed up rather than destroyed!
Thanks for this info, Esse. It was great seeing you and Amba in Arca last night.

Yes, thank you Esse for that information. Your opinion, since you have continued playing..... Is the game headed in a better direction? I know what a buddy of mine says, but I'd like another viewpoint. And if so, would it be worth it for those of us who gave up on the game to return? SWG has been one of the biggest gaming disappointments that I have experienced. IF it were going to improve, and not keep radically changing the rules, I would consider hanging out. I peeked at the BeastMaster expertise today (since it went live), and it looks pretty cool, even though it really doesn't intrigue me as much as it will other people. The one thing I do like about it, is that it is available to ALL classes, not just a creature handler class. This is a reflection of the way it 'used' to be. The ability to dabble in other professions that are not your primary. Is this the direction the professions will be taking? Or is this a one time deal? Anyhow, without making a super long post, your opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lorcan PS: Rumor has it the people responsible for the NGE are gone, is this true? And do you think the new Devs will work in a positive direction? I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't just looking for profession feedback, but your feel on the game as a whole. Thanks again for anything you have to offer.

Howdy all, RE: my opinion about the game Yeah, it is a helluva lot better than it was when the NGE destroyed it. No, they haven't really brought back the blended professions that we all loved so much. But they have introduced an "Expertise" system that allows for some customizing of your toon, and there is the second slot now, so you can explore other professions as well. I have 2 accounts, a Medic and Jedi on one (yeah, I had to try it), and a Medic (Novo, the Mayor) and Structures trader on the other. Amba has several toons, including an entertainer, a couple of traders (what they are calling crafters these days), and a couple of combat toons. So we have a sampling base. All in all, it is greatly improved over the NGE, and entertainers have finally come to have meaning in the game again. There is no HAM anymore, only a HA. No mind bar. A bit ironic, since they have dumbed down the game so much. Entertainers now can heal rez sickness after you die, and with the new Expertise system they can give some awesome buffs. Experience boosts, extra protections in combat, even profession specific buffs for crafting. Amba and I have played just about daily through all the idiotic changes, turnover in Devs (and Julio and Smedley are gone too...Yay!), and the general turn around for the game. I enjoy it much more than a year ago, and certainly since the NGE went south. I do think that the massive egress after the NGE smacked SOE pretty badly. That and all the well deserved bad press they got. Since the turnovers, it is my opinion that the Devs do communicate a little better. CSRs have been very responsive. There is more diversity in the game than the NGE brought, and they've fixed some of the gawdawful things they did to the game. Lately we've even seen some players returning that haven't been around since the CU or the NGE. It was stated by the Dev team that they would never have a rollback, and I think that is because the folks who coded the original game are long gone. But they have brought back some of the things we liked in the game interface and playability. (Hehe, I have remapped my keys to pretty closely resemble the early interface I enjoyed. At least you CAN do that. For a time they locked everything, and it was a nightmare.) Having said all that, the game still has some bugs. All games do, but SWG has a unique corner on the market. None that we've found game-stopping, but occasionally a mob gets stuck in a wall, critters spawn under buildings sometimes. That sort of thing. Today they inleashed Chapter 6, which is supposed to make combat more difficult. On the one hand, solo players were taking on Krayts and high level dungeons. That really shouldn't happen. On the other hand, the player base is so thin that grouping will be problematic for folks who play in non-primetime. I know some solo players who are watching this development closely and are threatening to leave if it is too difficult. On the third hand, it makes Entertainer buffs even more desirable. Cantinas are woefully empty these days, and you're likely to see entertainers other places. I miss the days when we all gathered in the cantinas. In fact, a visit to Coronet will make it obvious how sparse the player base is. One other game change that most of you haven't seen - they have changed how the GCW works, and faction is different. And there are some, myself included, who don't much like the emphasis on PvP. But the console kiddies seem to like it. The Devs have been working on bugs and professions, so content has been neglected. That's supposed to change, but it will take time. Is the game worth playing? That's a tough one. I always have company in the game, but unless the community grows, it can get to be a lonely place. I miss the community aspects of the game, and new combat players are wedged into solo play, doing a series of "Legacy Quests" alone (nothing legacy about them). Since they can't get XP with higher level players, and since everyone has a Combat Level, it's harder to group and help newbies. I tried WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars, Rappelz, and a few others, but I keep playing this one. I'd probably recommend trying the free 14-day trial to get a feel for it. The UI will throw you off at first, but stick with it. Amba and I tend to play kinda late. New Zealand is 4 hours earlier than Alaska time, so I stay up late. If we can help with anything, let us know. Don't give up your day game just yet. The SWG forums have moved. SOE runs them now, not Lithium. There are profession specific forums that are really helpful. (Good seeing you Bloo!) One wordy Esse

Thank you for that reply Esse. I had already went ahead and paid for a month, I figured that would give me a little more decision room. I (our family) has a total of 3 accounts. Mine (Lorcan), my wife (Kealynn), and my daughter (Kailah). I don't know if I'll keep all 3 open.
Kealynn is pretty busy, and if she is able to log in, she'll most likely log in with the majority of FX in lotro. So....if I do keep an account open, it will most likely be Lorcan. As far as the combat changes, yeah, I was surprised by them. LoL. I got jumped by some rebel npcs in Theed, which usually was no big deal. But this time....LoL, well lets just say that's the first time I have died in a LONG time.
So, look me up if I'm online, I'm usually flying in space, since that is what I enjoy the most about the game.
Thanks again, and good hunting.
Lorcan
