Now, that 1) my work schedule is very stable, and 2) More FXians are in game 3) I feel properly motivated. I’m thinking of trying to organize a few events. Asphyxia, Bloo & I discussed over Brunch on the 5th, playing around with some of the “event promoter” tools (IE lottery droid, Racing droid, Role-play NPC’s and the temporary structures and decorations, etc.) so we can get a feel for how they work, and then plan more events and things (perhaps, like once a month). Planning far enough in advance so we can get a post on the Events board on the station site. Thoughts?
Ok so a few thoughts on events:
a) A Yacht Crawl (or cantina Crawl in space): I had mentioned this idea in-game, and everyone was pleased with the idea. Basically we meet at a starport, and board someone’s Yacht. Every half-hour we come back and land, to let people off and to switch to a new Yacht. Does anyone know the maximum number of folks we can invite on a Yacht? If we plan this as big as the cantina crawl we may then have to take multiple Yachts up, and perhaps just be in the same sector of space. The other intention being that we go to new sectors and space zones with each yacht change, to have different backdrops for the party. We would have to have the pick up point be the same Starport so that latecomers can catch up in a common location. Does anyone have contacts with the folks who run the Cantina Crawl, perhaps we can coordinate our efforts? b) The Race/scavenger hunt went well that I had done once before. Although it happened at an inconvenient time, so I had 4 people show up. If we still want to give it another go we can. And I can get other guilds involved on this too to boost numbers and traffic into the city. c) There are many new tools for role-play/Story events. I’m sure there will be some scripting involved to make this happen so putting this together won’t be fast, but with some help could be a lot of fun? Do we have any interest for this type of event? d) “flight night” is something My friends in Liberalis do to try to help fellow guild members increase their piloting tiers. Do we want to do something similar? e) We used to have a Friday “hunt” this was usually for Sharnaffs and was a lot of fun, and helped raise experience for folks who have difficulty leveling on their own. For those of us who have RotW there is now the Rodian hunting grounds on Kashyyyk. I’ve tried this and it was Incredibly fun, but rather dangerous. Safety in numbers being rather important perhaps we can coordinate our efforts, and help level folks up. The only problem being: only those with RotW could join, and I don’t want anyone to be excluded.
These are some initial ideas, and perhaps we can work on one of these for an event in July?
What do y’all think?

Yes! Fun!I like all your ideas, Zubin, especially the Yacht Party (even if, sadly, my own is still totally undecorated ). The non-combat ideas appeal to me the most, of course, since I am permanently Combat Level 7. Something jumped into my mind when you mentioned some of the themed event parties, and it would take work but I thought I'd suggest a ... [shadow=red,left,300]Murder Party[/shadow] Basically, this would be a scripted event, just like one of those Dinner Theater parties in which real life people attend and have to figure out a murder mystery by walking around and looking for clues and questioning witnesses and involved parties, one of whom, of course, is the Murderer. Zubin, I thought this kind of thing might be right up your alley, as a LARP enthusiast. Basically, we'd advertise the thing on the SWG forums and by word of mouth, and the event would be thrown by committee consisting of FX regulars. Anyone on Bria (even cross-server folks who just want to create a character to play the murder mystery) in the Guild or not could show up. The set-up would be initiated at City Hall, wth exposition presenterd by someone like, say, a CorSec Officer and then the players could proceed from there, individually or in groups, after being given a different clue in the form of a letter, and visit three or four Suspects, whom they would interrogate in roleplay fashion. Eash Suspect would be in a different location, like the cantina, the PA Hall, a shop, the bank, or a private home, etc. The whole game would take place within a prescribed window or one or two hours, and then after interviewing each Suspect, the winners would present their finding in e-mail form to the Judge. We'd of course have some fabulous prizes for the winners, and anyone who showed up, really. I'd like to be one of the Suspects, of course! Well, it'd be work, but just thought I'd throw the idea out there.

In regards to a)Coordinating with a Cantina Crawl sounds cool, but they generally do Cantina Crawls on one planet and do various city cantinas on that planet. Though, I am sure that something could be arranged and then also announced on the Gypsy forums for those who wish to partcipate and make a collective effort to do this Yacht Crawl. The idea is novel & would be enjoyable. Organizing this would be the tricky part. It really depends on how the first one is set up and see how it flies. So, perhaps a bit more ideas on how we can get this off the ground (so to speak ) and a simple plan, scheduled stops and whatnot. Of course, these Yacht Crawls would be seperate from Official Cantina Crawls, but if they are successful could actually grow into something special and an event unto their own. Who knows, I am sure many have thought about doing this and perhaps some have done basic ones, but it would be nice to actually have something well organized and delivered to the masses that they enjoy and can remember for a long time. Perhaps I can convince someone to even try and video the event. But first, let's try it out ourselves and see how we can make the operation run smoothly and then we can offer it to the masses and really have some fun!

The murder mystery is a thought that's been brought up before. I really liked it then, and I really like it now. I also happen to know certain FXers have been hankerin' to write and put on a play in game for ages now, and a murder mystery where the "audience" visits people and places in the city would get around some of the most difficult aspects of trying to host a play.
And, if we make a murder mystery work, we may be able to learn from that and figure out some way to stage a more formally styled play.

And unused vendors could give clues on who-done-it. If a murder mystery works well or attracts enough people I'd even be willing to resurrect my other account and see if they've deleted it yet.
these are all great ideas! One that i'd like to see is a dueling event (me being a fencer and all), but I don't know if PvP has been fixed yet to make that something exciting and plausable.
I can't wait to come back and join you all again!

You're right Billie a "murder mystery" is right up My alley. I am part of a LARP troupe that throws together 1-shot LARPS for gaming conventions (for those who don't know). I do however, do this with a troupe normally and would want to get help. There's a chance that we may be able to utilize some of the NPC features to maximize the number of FX'ers who I'm sure will want to play.
The Vendor idea could help dispense objects that are physical clues, so we may use it Shala... Good Input!
I'm sure if we build up enough word about it we could get folks from other servers to attend. My only problem... if someone from another server wins, how do we get their prize to their Primary character? perhaps I could ask on the forums, or shoot an e-mail to Tiggs (the Community person, to see if she had help or advice)
The Yacht crawl I have an idea in My head how it should/could work, But I'm having trouble explain it. Perhaps we could do a practice run just for FX and our friends/guilds that we know pretty well.
If another Malitia member or CB is on I may just play with the Event stuff... so you may see some "junk" in the city this week, but rest assured it is all temporary, and goes poof in a matter of days on its own.

My only problem... if someone from another server wins, how do we get their prize to their Primary character? It's probably not been implemented, else I imagine you guys would know about it already, but I thought I remembered something about being able to trade items across servers; has this not come to pass, then, or was it just under certain circumstances, or does my memory fail me altogether? Anyway, you just keep coming up with all these fun ideas, makes me wish I was back in town (I always wanted to do one of those Murder Mystery Dinner thingys, would be fun to do one in-game).

Yah. You could have the vendors sell some clue or say a clue. Or do something that would hint at something, like point at an object in the roof.
I know what you can do is limited with a vendor, but with enough imagination the possiblites are nigh endless. And I know we have enough imagination (i.e. Bloo flighter and FX-Wing).

Obos is really good and really creative with that sort of thing, I would LOVE to have him on board for help. he has a darn good reason for not being able to be in game (work, and lack of funds) otherwise I'm sure we'd see more of him. People not in our guild still ask about the resident angry bothan, and await his return.

Honestly? The next 15 bucks I get is going straight to a month of play... It's been too long.
Unless I get some free play time from something? Did I miss that completely? Either way, I know full well the limitations on vendors.

The murder mystery sounds really cool. Stuff like that could be a great server event put on by FX.
Also, the Yacht crawl is a very neat idea. The yacht holds 30 people also, so you can really cram a large amount in there.
You don't have to be grouped anymore. Just be near the person going into space to get invited.

Re: Vendor limits.
Don't forget we can get NPC actor-thingies now. I'm not sure what all they can do beyond bark out a message, but it does give us some more options.
Re: Roleplay events.
Yacht Crawls and murder mysteries are certainly keen. I've been meaning to look more into the player event goodies you can purchase. If someone out there is feeling kind, hit me with waypoints to the proveyer of these services on Corellia. I think he's in Tyrena or something?
I'd love to work out some Roleplay/RP-Lite stuff. I'a know about you guys, but I think it would be fun to flesh out our characters, even if only for an evening or two. MMOs in general don't lend themselves too well to that kinda thing, but SWG is better about it than most (yes, even I must admit that if nothing else, SWG provides you with a hellova lotta RP tools when compaired to any other MMO that isn't a *MUD).
A crazy thought occurs. I can't remember, however, if people can see other ships through the windows of multipassenger ships. If they can, what about an "air" show? As a highlight to some evening on a Yacht doing whatever it is we do on a Yacht there could be some synchronized flying around the ship or something. Might be neat. /shrug
I've got other ideas, but my lunch break is up! /dash

As for the air show itself, we'd be hard pressed to find people willing to ditch the yacht and fly around, but I seem to recall that You, Vert, and I always had some sweet Dunelizard Formations.
It's been a while...not that I'm rusty, but Vert probably doesn't fly a Dunni anymore.

Okay folks, I have some Ideas for the Murder mystery. And I’ll need some assistance scripting it out. I’m thinking of hammering some ideas out either over e-mail or IM. Sort of doing a backwards CSI… I figured out the victim, some suspects, and “who dunnit” and even some motives for the suspects. But I need to make clues that are a) not so hard no one will figure it out and b) Not so easy that it’s figured out in 10 minutes.
Last night I was drawn into the little cantina party so I completely forgot I was going to play with the event toys and see how they work. I’ve been neglecting Naymo, so he’ll be on tonight, and I try to get going on that too.
For the Yacht Crawl How about we plan for something around 4th of July weekend? This year 4th of July is on a Monday. Perhaps a Party on Sunday, so everyone can have the day of the 4th for Family functions? This also will give people plenty of time to decorate their Yachts. Come to think of it, I have a Room I’ve neglected… CB! An emergency furny order!!!!!

A Space display would be really neat! I'd also like to join... But I was already thinking of being one of the Yacht pilots. I fly an X-wing anyway so I'm not sure how well that will go if we wanted all same-vehicles (same vehicles would make for a nicer display.
If I can grind out my first box of tier 4 I'll be able to go along and show off my Belbulab 22(Grievous) fighter, I don't even know what the stats are on it yet.

Well, I have a toon that can fly Privater (Sskik). I also have an extra Dune I can hop in so I can join in on the formation flight if needed. As far as people not being in the vette for the fly-over, that isn't really a problem. You can be in the vette and leave by using the eject button. That gets you and only you back to where you took off from and everyone else on the ship stays there. So, you can party it up, get drunk on Vas brandy, eject and clumsily fly over the yacht in an impresive (if not weaving) fly-over.

But I'll be getting to see some of the great sights between here and the midwest. And I'll be thinkin' of y'all as I drive through Yellowstone, and visit Devil's Tower and Mount Rushmore, and drive through the great flatness that is Kansas.
By all means though, do something cool in game for the Fourth. And wish me luck, I hope the scary Kansas people don't eat me, or burn me at the stake...
