Apologies to those who have to deal with reading about our LotRO adventures here lately. Although it does serve as a not-so-subtle hint for all old FXers to get with the program and come play with us! Anyway, with closed beta coming to an end, we felt we need to finalize a kinship name right away so when open beta hits, we can get one up so we're ahead of the game in kinship ranks. We spent a couple of nights kicking around options for names, and the above are some we really liked. As for why we don't just go with FX .. well, Fatal X'ceptions just doesn't seem very lore appropriate! As you can see, some of these names are taken directly from the chapter names of the book. Please vote on your favorite. Whatever has the most votes by the 30th is our new kinship name. Also, there has been questions as to which server we should be on. Some of us prefer to just stay on Brandywine, but if anyone has any good reasons why we shouldn't stay on Brandywine, speak up. If you have a better suggestion for a kinship name, speak up too. Btw, I am opening up the poll to ALL FXers.. even if you don't currently play.

Quick question. Would it be "Light in Dark Places" ? Or "A Light in Dark Places" ?

Bah! It wasn't 'suggestion' it was simply commentary on my own bladder and its shortcomings! Oh and it just so happened to take place whilst people were suggesting names!

I have always wanted a guild named Wanderers of the Outer Darkness. Not sure if it would be appropriate or even fit the letter limit.
Maybe when the World of Darkness online game comes out and I can have my Toreador.

Poll Note: A Light in Dark Places will have 1 vote added to it at the end to count Ecta's preference. This also means "Stupid Bladder" will have 1 vote subtracted from it. =p

Another note! For those of you on the fence about picking up the game, please keep in mind that if you do preorder, the subscription rate is 9.99 vs. if you don't preorder of 14.99 a month. There is also an option to pay $199 for lifetime subscription for those who are certain they will be playing for a very long time. Again, this is only a preorder deal. So even if you aren't sure and want to give the game a try first, you can always preorder for the special rate and cancel your preorder later if the game is just not right for you. Open beta for preorders starts on March 30th, so make up your minds soon before the preorder offer is gone!

I completely agree. The pre-order deal is incredible. 33% savings?! I don't think I've seen anything like that before. Of course if you buy the lifetime, you won't break even for 20 months, but if you play this as long as we've played other games. Definitely a money saver.

I admit that i'm not the best at math but it seems to me that you'll break even in 13 months with the lifetime... As in 14.99 x 13months = well, it's 194.87 so technically you'd be clear by 14 months. Which is barely over a year.

No, your right. I worded it wrong. I meant the $9.99 / month -vs- $199 lifetime. I wasn't comparing the founder rate -vs- regular. Either way, it's a really good deal. But it's kind of like insurance, do you think you are going to be playing Lotro 20 months down the road? Possibly. That's when buying the lifetime begins to pay off, rather than the monthly fee.

I already pre-ordered the CE (mainly for the Soundtrack).
I am leaning toward the Lifetime Fee. I usually mess with the better of these games for between one and two years. I'll decide while I'm embarking on my Open Beta toons. If I love them and I'm having a good time playing, completely apart from the wonderful chit chat, then I'll fork over the two C-notes. Safe bet, I think.
If nothing else, I'll always be able to check back in and see if anyone is around, as opposed to deliberating with myself over whether I should go buy a pre-paid card (or type in my Credit Card digits again).
If nothing else, the pre- is worth it for the Ten-Bucks-a-Month lock-in.
My two cents. . . .
[Anybody else remember when typewriters had the 'cent' mark on a shift-key, just like the dollar sign is?]

So the winner with 9 votes is ... A Light in Dark Places! Let's just hope we can grab that name as a kinship. If not, oh well! We will still be using this domain I purchased! www.alightindarkplaces.comI threw something together real quick along with a new forum. I promise the design and functionality for both will improve over open beta. In the meantime, if you want to register a forum account and test the waters.. please feel free! Also, any comments and/or suggestions are welcome.
