They have announced the first seven servers for the game.
Brandywine Elendilmir Gladden Landroval Meneldor Silverlode Windfola
They claim this is not a complete list.
I don't mind staying on Brandywine, my only concern is that when you stay with a beta server, you tend to get told equipment that has been kind of 'over' used. I remember this with Bria in particular. Many server issues, hiccups, and rollbacks because the hardware was the oldest and most used, as well as all the other glitches that may occur from running test programs constantly in the background, that may create lost files and such.
Well, anyhow I thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention, since Open Beta is just around the corner.
I'm searching to see if they have designated severs, i.e. role-play servers. I'll post if I find anything.
By the way, I have played on Meneldor and Brandywine, and the crowd seems 'funner' than the one on Meneldor, both in regular play and monster play. It seems to be more interested in the Tolkien universe, rather than, "how fast can I max out my character and get bored with this game".
If you do a /who on Brandywine for level 50 players, I haven't seen any as of yet. I'm not sure if that is related to the server personality or something else, or if I just check at the wrong times. Maybe players here tend to enjoy the game a bit more.
Anyhow, I need to quit rambling. I like Brandywine (other than concerns stated above). And also like the name Elendilmir.
Safe journeys.

Ouch. Just finished a thread about the new servers. I'll try to keep up on it, but sounds like they want all the 'hard-core' gamers to go to Brandywine. beta.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=30125With Meneldor the middle ground and Winfola the heavy rp.

Bah, one player making a suggestion doesn't mean anything to me. If Turbine announces it, that's a different thing.
As for your concern on getting the beaten hardware, this could also work to our benefit. If hardware shows wear and tear, this means we will also be the first to get the newest hardware. This was the case with my WoW server. We were on one of the initial beta servers and we were among the first to get new hardware upgrades.

I'm for staying on Brandywine simply because new servers mean new problems and tried and true server means a more stable server now (this will probably prove null and void when launch day arrives, as i've never been part of a launch that did not include more than its fair share of downtime). No this is not looking forward as i don't do that very well, but i say let them give us downtime down the road when they change out the old servers, give me time to get a little bored with the game first.

My friends are talking about going to Landroval.
It will be somewhat in the middle of the list and will hopefully miss out on the people who click on the first server in the list or the last one.
It is also not a name that most people will recognize as those will get a lot of people. God forbid getting stuck on the Gandalf or Legolas server!

I like Brandywine. I would like to stay there. Less stalkers than Meneldor.

It looks like a lot of the beta testers are trying to make Landroval the unofficial RP server since Turbine doesn't plan on designating one. That is where my friends want to go so I will be there.

Here is the Unofficial Guide to the Unoffical servers forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=32576You can still use your beta forum account on the forums if you were in beta. The forums are open to everyone now. There was a post with the lists of kinships going to each server. I just haven't found it again yet.

This sort of brings up the question again, which server will we gravitate to? Open beta begins tomorrow morning. I know we were leaning toward Brandywine, does this mean we are staying with that idea?
My other two suggestions are Landroval, I know that some don't like RP servers, I've had pretty good luck on them. Or Gladden, the "little of this, and little of that" sounds like what the guild may be looking for.
Anyhow, I'm not adverse to staying on Brandywine, but it would be good to coordinate our efforts. I don't want us to split up right at the beginning, because it will be harder to start over down the road.

My preference is still Brandywine. But it is a good idea to have a backup just in case something goes wrong with Brandywine tomorrow and people decide to explore other servers. To be safe, how about we designate Landroval as our backup server? Plan on making characters on both servers and we'll test to see how Brandywine holds up. Sound good? I typically stay away from "RP servers" due to the abundance of drama queens, attention whores, and horny men who want cyber, especially after they hear your voice on voicechat... I typically stay away from "PvP servers" because of all the elite doods who want to pwn everything in sight. I find middle of the ground "normal servers" to be a better fit. But this seems like a good community, so this unofficial RP server might not be too bad! Btw, I'm currently trying to get a dedicated lotro site up for our little group. As much as we love it here, it's unfair for others who aren't interested in the game to have to hear us going on about everything. I have already secured the domain name alightindarkplaces.com.

I still say Brandywine too and I am okay with Landroval as a back up. Does anyone have any objections to this plan?

I'm good with Landroval as a backup. I don't think the uber gamer will choose this server, since it doesn't really have a 'cool' name, at least not one that is typically recognized. I think it's a cool name, because I know what it is named after. If I like the feel of Landroval I might put my 2cp toward us dedicating that as our primary, if for no other reason, I don't want to split anyone from our group (Kikra). Too bad you can't 'scramble' your voice in chat. I can't imagine what you have to go through in these games, and I am truly sorry it is that way. I'm glad you continue to play though, because I think it makes it a better game having decent females play. Definitely not Meneldor. I enjoy PvP, but dedicated PvP seems to bring out the worst in people. I don't mind competition and such, but this often makes people justify their cruel actions in game. Sad. Interesting how you could write an entire thesis on human nature and how online games seem to bring out the 'true self' of individuals. Much easier to be greedy, cruel, or a multitude of other dark sides when you have a virtual mask on. It also speaks highly of how people will continue to act kind, even though it will not reflect on them in a direct way, simply because it is the right thing to do. /soapbox.off To sum up a long post. I will stay on Brandywine if that is what the group wants, but I like the sound of Landroval. Have a great day. :lol Lorcan

Well I hope you're all staying on Brandywine, because I would enjoy continuing to play with FX/Amuse and Confused/A Light In Dark Places/Stupid Bladder. As of 5PM MST today (Thursday), I've got my client running, doing it's 1 minute auto-reconnect. Can't wait for it to give the little green check-mark! PostScript: I'll be waiting, so if anybody wants me to reserve their name(s) as soon as I connect, let me know. I have two accounts, so that's eight I'll reserve for others. (two for my own )

Vareba, does this mean you can *not* play on Landroval? If you can't that is critical in this decision.

Hrm. Firstly, I really don't think that -my- server choosing should play ANY role, whatsoever, in any major decision choosing for FXers playing LOTRO. Secondly, I don't play on multiple servers. It's just not my style. The only exception has been Asheron's Call, where my main server was Darktide (full, unrestricted PvP), and eventually, I joined Leafcull (a typical PvE server), for the ability to check out new content without being killed by a 30 someodd PKer group. Anyhoo. I'm sitting here, and it past launcher/client update, username login, and now I'm sitting at the world selection screen. At first it was all red 'X's (subtitled "Down"). After a few times of the screen refreshing (about every 60 seconds?), they all switched to the red circle sign (subtitled "Closed"), meaning they're physically up . I've been pooping kittens out everytime it updates, waiting for the green check. Meneldor has been a consistant red X, whereas Brandywine, Windfola, Gladden, Silverlode, Elendilmir, and Landroval are all up/closed. Wheeee! Edited for PostScript: Oh. As to answer: Sure, I'll play on Landroval. I really don't want to, but I will. (Meneldor just went back to up/closed status ) I highly prefer Brandywine. I won't play on both, actively.

I understand, I'd much prefer playing on one server as well. And how is it that you are getting the opportunity to log in, when the game doesn't Open until tomorrow morning?! That's not fair. :lol

It's only "logging in", up to the world selection screen. Nothing more. I've got both clients running, each on half the interval of the other (Seeing status every 30 seconds rather than 60) Anybody else should be able to do the same.

I'm taking the day off tomorrow so I can play. In the meantime though, you betcha I'm keeping the launcher in the background! To pass the time, I have picked up the latest expansion to Sims 2. Maybe I'll create sim versions of you all in a neighborhood called Arca Effex! <3

I have Friday off and I may do the whole client download all over again to do the open beta I got an invite for from Gamestop.
In any case, looks like if I jump in I'll be on Brandywine with you all. Not sure of my character name yet, though so it'll either be Summer or Straif and most likely an Elf.
As for server types I have found that when it's unofficial it doesn't really matter. SWG had the whole unofficial RP server (Star-something...) and an official PvP server (Bria) and I played both quite a bit and they were really about the exact same, just Bria was more heavily populated (most likely because it started with B, not because of PvP).

Summer, is it a preorder key? Friday's open beta is only for preorder keys. If you have just a regular open beta key, that doesn't start until next Friday, the 6th.
Looking forward to seeing you either way regardless!

Am i missing something here? How does one end up getting an open beta key from Gamestop without it being a 'pre-order' founder key? Either way, isn't there still time to become a 'founder' by pre-ordering? Not that it isn't just six days, but... you know.
