Yup, downloaded the movie for free, buying the DVD, Gone to see the movie... can I possibly pump more revenue into Joss' creation through purchases I think so! I don't have a VCR but I should buy the VHS too

Not that I'm obsessed or anything... but I grabbed my dvd of Serenity at about 1am this morning. Funny thing is there was only the one copy left in widescreen... plenty of fullscreens but, yuck. I don't know if maybe they hadn't put all the dvds on the shelf when I went, or if they just sold a ton early. But anyway, I got mine! ;D Found a little Easter egg too. I'm going into a Serenity binge today, so I gotta go.

Like a fool, I asked for it for XMas, so now I have to wait to watch it.

Awww Billie... I'll be good then and not spoil any of the stuff in the extras. But I am happy with how much there is on a single disk release.
Of course, I will jump all over the inevitable superspecial collector boxset that will happen in the future. ;D
I'm just a geek like that.

Well, I caved in and went buy it anyway! I had to go to two places to find a copy, so that's good (for the DVD sales). I'm in the middle of watching it--but had to pause because I don't want to blast through it in one sitting. It's too good!
I liked how the opening menu is in Chinese, before it translates itself. Nice. I thought for a second it was going to stay that way. ;D

I thought that was a nice touch too! I was hoping at least an option to keep the menu in Chinese.. but that's ok.
Billie you gotta listen to the Joss Whedon comentary as soon as you get a chance. It's much fun (of course).

Stumbled across this game today on Amazon.com. It can be ordered from them, and I am sorely tempted to do so, but first I wanted to ask our resident PnPers (esp. Zubin and Conrad) if anybody had seen this game, maybe in a con or a shop? www.geocities.com/vardenkenzei/serenityrpg.htmlen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_(role-playing_game)I can't seem to find an official publisher's website (although it has been said before, by me, that I can be lazy.) [shadow=red,left,300]Oh,[/shadow]and I do know about the on-going roleplay website for the Firefly universe, before anyone asks. I mainly wanted this as a reference, and because I used to collect such books. But out of curiousity, if you were going to make a character in a Serenity campaign, what would you be? I would of course play a bard, even if I had to invent the class. It's nothing that you'd have any trouble shoe-horning into their universe, just give some shooter a fiddle or guitar, maybe even make it a hybrid class with light medic abilities. . .

I too was thinking of getting the book.. for pretty much the same reason. To just geek out on all the info. But what's this online rpg site? Did I miss something uber cool? *edit* Ok and am I the only one who had the weird random thought that it would be cool/geeky to see the actors from Firefly sitting down to play this game? I think that would fundamentally upset the balance of the universe?

Ok, lazybones me found the official site: www.serenityrpg.com/(So incredibly hard to figure that one out, huh?) And here is one review of the game: www.revolutionsf.com/article.html?id=2844But what's this online rpg site? Did I miss something uber cool? Well, I am going to look for it again, but once when the Browncoats website was up and running [before the Serenity DVD came out and it's work was deemed concluded ] I found a link to a forum where folks not unlike us make up characters for themselves and then post in character, writing stories as they go along, adding to others' contributions. I did not get involved because. . . I've got enough time-burgler hobbies in my life already. If I stumble across the forum in question, I'll link it here, Ecta.

I'm sort of going through RPG withdrawls waiting on Morrowind Oblivion for 360.

No, it's more like a MUD. Here is the new home of the game in question, if you have lots and lots of time to kill. vega.dyndns.org/~fireflymux/

Hey, Firefly fans, A quick heads-up: Gina Torres is playing a regular on a new Fox seris called STANDOFF. The Pilot is tonight on Fox. I'm watching just to see Zoe frown wryly at people. I have no idea if the series will soar or blow. But she is on it, so I'm watching. Let me know if anyone else catches this and what you thunk? www.fox.com/programming/new/standoff.htmIf it's worth discussing, we can even christen a new thread, but you know I'm into the whole necro thing, hence this latest rez.

(Oh and sorry for being MIA for awhile... but I'm all back and stuff) No problem. I'm glad you're back in action! Aidin and I were kind of worried that something had become of you. (He made a Hunter on Lightbringer in WoW so I get to talk to him now. Yay!) I hope someone told Joss Whedon about the homage. It's a nice little tip of the hat that completely surprised me--and it is wonderfully obscure, for all the real Firefly fans, like us. I'm glad the Blizzard editors approved it. They could have done something more obvious but not as cool, if they simply wanted to name a magic gun.

Well, i'm kinda glad i hadn't bought it yet. But now i'm torn over whether to buy this or the HD version. Maybe they'll make an HD version of this... Probably not though.
Now i have to go shower after wading into this undead topic.

Just followed the link to that site, I love this quote: "Honey, I accidentally created this Fox show" lol, I just got off the phone 'cos all I had was "Honey, I accidentally spilled some ceiling paint on the floor." Whedon is way cooler than me!
