After episode thoughts. OMFGNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Poor Charlie... Poor Hiro! Why why why ? 1. How exactly are the writers able to explain more about Niki/Jessica and still make it confusing as all heck? I don't get it... 2. Nathan is back to being a jerk again. Kind of comforting to know some people are easy to figure out. 3. Even though I knew the stuff with Sylar was going to be in the episode, I totally didn't realize this geeky little guy was him. I'm slipping in my old age, what can I say? Was nice to see his beginings though. (might have been better to keep him in shadows though... he didn't look all that scary! ) 4. Let's see a show of hands... how many people like Eden better with long hair? /raise hand! Seriously though she was all cute and stuff. And loved her scene with Matt!

GOOD WRITING.
I prefer Eden with short hair.
I shall watch this again tomorrow, and maybe again.
The origami butterflies decorating the place were gorgeous.
Poor Charlie. . . . Doomed in every alternataverse. What a sweetheart. Never a mean moment from her. Good Kharma.
I liked that Sylar had an 'innocent' origin.
THE REAL QUESTION : What are Glasses Man and the Sponge guy doing? They had a plan underway before the Prof.

Great episode...
But didn't they say that we'd learn the origin of their powers? And now we get one more show before "christmas" break! God i hate christmas!

Great episode... But didn't they say that we'd learn the origin of their powers? And now we get one more show before "christmas" break! God i hate christmas! They get their powers from imperfections. At least that's what I got from it. Especially when Sylar looked at that guy and said he was "broken".

Imperfections, mutations....Sylar is the one who is broken. I saw that from the first time he met the doc in the watch shop. somehting wasn't right with him.

Comicbookresources.com posted the interview with the writers about this new episode. *spoilery link to the interview* www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=9000I try not to post alot of spoilers in this thread, but I do want to post question and answer. It involves the Nik/Jessica stuff and isn't spoilery but ... well I try not to think too much about that storyline cause it just makes my head all hurty and stuff. "Also - and this question may be answered later in the season - is Niki a split personality because of her powers? Or was she a split personality to begin with and the Jessica persona is the only one that knows how to access her abilities? This very question will be at the crux of Niki's next group of episodes when we come back in January." This question and answer seems to lead in a much better direction I think. IF Jessica is a split personality from Niki, and if the *actual* power is just the strength, but somehow only the Jessica personality got it.. well it makes much more sense, and makes my head hurt less! lol

At least that's what I got from it. Especially when Sylar looked at that guy and said he was "broken". This i understand, but what they didn't explain was why it is happening *now*. See, i have mutations too, but they give me arthritis, not telekinesis. Evolution in general usually takes a very long time this took about six months. It's killing some people (Chandra's daughter) and giving others powers... I suppose i should have specified to begin with cause they had already settled on the 'evolution' stand but not explained why it was a super-speedy-instant-just-add-water-evolution. So what is being 'fixed' to make them powerey instead of dead? This question and answer seems to lead in a much better direction I think. IF Jessica is a split personality from Niki, and if the *actual* power is just the strength, but somehow only the Jessica personality got it.. well it makes much more sense, and makes my head hurt less! lol I think it is that.

I agree with that assessment as well. The power is in the body, and the multiple personality disorder is in her mind, but Viki does not believe she has the power so she does not use it. I think they are doing a strong job with handling the personality disorder thing, but these things are always kind of the same, aren't they? I mean, as soon as you decide to make one of your characters have that mental problem, the character lacks a certain freshness (you'd think the twist here is that only one of the personalities has access to the super power, but I believe that was already done in Alpha Flight). If I ever write a story with a multiple personality disorder, I'm gonna make both personalities be really nice people, just different. And maybe they could fall in love? But never meet? Wait, is that a Jim Carey movie?

Mr. Bennett supposedly has been tracking metas for 14 years according to what he said, so it has been going on longer than that.
According to Chandra, the powers that these people have are in the brain. That is why Sylar is taking the brains. A friend suggested that Sylar's power allows him to still powers, but it is his psychosis that makes him think he needs the brain. They are broken and taking their brain fixes them.

Ok new episode coming up is called "Fallout". Maybe we can speculate? (I've seen some spoilers on the net... but I won't throw any in here. maybe...) One thing I read online was somebody using the name "Jack Bennet" for Claire's father. Doubt it's official or anything, but it fits the sort of creepy bland 1950's-ish look he has. We know Peter got busted by the cops at the end of last episode. Peter is in Texas, and we know Hiro and Ando are in Texas. (And Claire obviously) Those four should meet up at least. (I hope) You just know If Nathan finds out his bro is in jail he's gonna haul-butt to Texas. Wonder if he will bail him out or leave him him there to "protect him"? Is D.L. gonna make it? They have been teasing in commercials that someone might die this next episode, but is he too obvious a choice? (Darn those tricky writers... I don't know which way they are gonna go!) This new episode is going to be the last one while they go on break, and I hear that it drops all kinds of mean cliffhangers on us... so be prepared to go through withdrawals... *edit* Well it seems access hollywood has a few minutes of the new episode online for viewing! (needless to say, people who don't want stuff spoiled should avoid watching) But it does answer at least one of my questions in all my ramblings above. Actually it answers some big questions ... heh *tease tease* and contains much coolness! video.accesshollywood.com/player/?id=47806They also have other behind the scenes clips and interviews on the site. Plus a short but cute interview with Masi about how the cast are getting along. ;D www.accesshollywood.com/television/ah2737.shtml**I want my card too!**

Ecta, Zach updated his MySpace blog today: blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=93369615&blogID=201304193It's interesting, because he actually responds to and comments on posts other people make on his page. The TV show is actually interactive, in a way. I'm really looking forward to tonight's "finale." Some people I know are griping at the 'season breaks' that Heroes and Lost are doing over Christmas, but it does not bother me. There are never new episodes of shows over the holidays anyway, and having new stories to look forward to in January sounds nice to me. Besides, superheroes are supposed to have cliffhanger endings! That's the way I grew up, reading comic books, and I like having something to look forward to. So do you think Hiro is gonna have to buy another airplane ticket back to the U.S. from Tokyo? Poor guy!

Thanks for pointing that out Billie! I hadn't looked at those pages in awhile. I actually love the holiday break in episodes. It's a short break, plus I now know alot about the 2 guest stars coming up in January and what those episodes will be about. ;D Did you peek at that information yet Billie? *edit* Oh and you made me go back and check Hiro's blog. blog.nbc.com/hiro_blog/"I failed. Charlie wasn't my Marle, she was my Gwen Stacy." Nice update there, but a bit on the sad side. (of course)

Excellent. Simply excellent. I thought this show was passable for the first couple episodes, then I thought it was good, and lately I've been impressed. But after tonight, I'm really, really very happy with it. It's genuinely clever, and possibly truly great. And no, I don't know what the hell is gonna explain the vision Isaac had. Or where Hiro is gonna get the sword. Or how he is going to escape from a T-Rex! OMG, that painting was fun as hell! Very nice touch. Poor Zach. I feel so sorry for him, and Claire. Is he going to get written out of the show? Or will he have to start from scratch? Maybe he can read all the clues people have dropped in MySpace comments and figure out that something was odd about Claire? Wouldn't that be nice? I loved the bit where Peter absorbed the telepathy of the cop and it made feedback. That was wonderful. I have never seen a leech meet a telepath in comics, and that was genuinely clever. So kudos. You can all guess what it gonna happen next as much as you want. I don't want to know. I'm enjoying watching it unravel too much. The show comes back three days after my birthday in January, so I'm already considering that a BIG PRESENT. I can't wait. [And Ecta, I know about the person playing the father of Hiro, but not the other mystery guest, so don't tell me! ]

Ok. I needed to wait until I rewatched the episode. A couple of times. My first impulse was to just make a post with three letters... "WTF". But I thought it would be more constructive to wait until my head got turned back around to normal. I think Hiro had the best line. (again) " I really need to get that sword." ;D Poor Eden... She turned out to be a true hero in the end though. (man I was getting to like her more and more!) Claire's dad? Hatin' him!! How could he do that to Zach? WTH? When the scene with Claire and her brother happened I just got that weird feeling about what was going to happen to Zach. Poor Zach!! And what does the Haitian know about Claire that he wants her to remember? Is the Haitian getting his own orders from the same guy as Claire's dad? Someone else? And Billie... the other guest coming up is going to be waaaay cool! His character name is out there. Even his power has been talked about, so be careful what interviews you read. (and his name has a wicked cool tie-in to his power. ) So, in a recent interview on tvguide.com (which spoils much. including the "you-know-who" guest star coming up in Jan.), Tim Kring (creator of the show) mentioned the reason why Peter was so sick during this recent episode. Not really much of a spoiler. It seemed obvious to me anyway. But I'll drop it down a few lines in case anyone wants to close their eyes and stick fingers in their ears doing the "La-la-la" thing. " He's having so much trouble absorbing the powers around him that he goes into a coma."

Some numnut company got their panties in a bunch because the first episode showed Claire sticking her hand into their garbage disposal and her hand comes out mangled and bleediing. They said that it gave their disposals a bad image. I guess they don't want people to know that you could get hurt if you stick your hand down a running garbage disposal.

Rewatching the last two eps. . .Hiro actually speculates, at the start of 10, that he could wind up lunch for a T-Rex if he makes a bad jump. I totally missed that foreshadowing! How the heck did the old professor locate all the metahumans? How do you track that? What is "eggs, carbinar style"? I'm down with exercise and all that, but please don't ask me to do calisthenics in a full business suit. Yuck! The thing with the origami was presaged in the on-line comic. That's cool. Had they shown origami on the TV show at all, or was it just in the comic? I cannot remember. I froze frame on the partial list of names. There's an Oriental lady in Shreveport. Too bad she can't come from the interesting part of LA. Up there is Britney Spears country. Of course, Sylar may have already eaten her brain, but they should have made her live in Cajun Land. Much more interesting. Mmm, chocolate milk. . . . Peter has had quasi-psychic dreams at least twice that gave him information he should not have had--he saw his brother getting run off the road by a car and flying, and he saw Sylar's face in the jail cell dream. He could not have known this stuff, and the visions were not related to Isaac. Does he have a second power, one that could explain the big dream sequence at the end of the finale? Jessica is a crap shot. She had all that prep and hit D.L. in the arm? My mom could do that!! Do you think they'll come out with 'Heroes' action figures? Everyone would buy up all the Hiro's! "How do you stop an exploding man?" OK, Hiro mentioned the samurai movie marathon in Austin--it wasn't a "Kurosawa films" marathon; he used the word "samurai." I think he is going to jump back in time and meet actual samurai later, and that is where he gets the sword. I think that was set-up, just like they mentioned the T-Rex in advance. Oh, and I've been meaning to talk about the music ever since the show began, but keep forgetting. "Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman" are of course 'Wendy & Lisa' from Prince & the Revolution, and Shankar is, well, Shankar. I found a fansite for W&L ( www.girlbroslandia.org/ ) but not any interviews. Shankar is an Indian violinist who was in Shakti with John McLaughlin, a really good jazz guitarist who used to play with Miles Davis (if you ever want to hear jazz played like metal, check out McLaughlin's band Mahavishnu Orchestra--it's really intense and bad-ass). Shankar has worked with Zappa, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Talking Heads--the list goes on. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L._Shankar ). I wonder if they are working together, or just doing music for different scenes? UPDATE: OMG!! You have got to go read Zach's latest MySpace blog! GO READ IT RIGHT NOW!!! blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=93369615&blogID=201898586Someone halfway down commented "Best MySpace blog ever. ^_^" and I think they mgiht be right.

Lovin Zach's update... it's gonna get creepy around there! lol And did you notice what album he's got listed on the new update? "Where Is My Mind: A Tribute to the Pixies" Yeah no hidden meaning there! I'm thinking Peter does have some kind of prophetic dream ability. But is it his? Remeber he also had the dream of Simone's father when he died, and that just seemed to come out of nowhere. My other big question for Peter is his power leech. Is it just proximity based? Or time based? In other words, we know when he's close to someone with powers he gets that power. But does he lose the power once he moves far enough away? Or does the power stay with him for a certain amount of time? His freak when leaving jail could explain that. Sylar had all those powers and maybe Peter retained them? The haitan was also in the same building since we saw him working his mojo on Matt, so did Peter pick up his power too? I totally got the Wendy and Lisa thing from ep 1. ( I LOOOVE their work!) They worked with Tim Kring on Crossing Jordan too. It had one of the coolest opening songs ever! That show was another addiction of mine for awhile. Sims you haven't downloaded the episodes yet??? C'mon! Seriously I didn't even think about a region lock on the nbc.com site... I wonder if there is a work around somehow? Who knows... But all the eps download pretty fast considering the size. Lots of people seeding this show.. who woulda thought? As far as hiro and that awesome picture.. I'm leaning more towards him ending up in a museum or something. I can't imagine the show having a big enough budget to pull off a good looking cg-dino. Oh and I really hope to see action figures someday! *geeksigh* But nbc's online store has shirts at least! www.nbcuniversalstore.com/index.php?v=nbunbcnowherI don't wanna wait until January! I'm gonna start grabbing all my friends and even random people on the street and have Heroes marathons! I mean it's only what, 11 hours? *edit* Oh and Greg Beeman (Heroes director) updated his blog about this last episode! gregbeeman.blogspot.com/

I was going back and reading some of the interviews and spoilers on the net from last week and one thing popped out at me. Several people mentioned that in the most recent episode (Fallout) that we would see some new, and unexpected "Familial bonds". Did this get edited out? Or did I miss something? I did read that the scene with Eden and Sylar at the end (Eden's end....*sigh*) was actually meant for an episode in January. They moved the scene back to this episode cause I guess the actress was in some icky negotiations with the shows producers. *edit* I found a behind the scenes video about the episode Fallout! www.dailymotion.com/video/xqvam_heroes-1x11-fallout-making-of

I had the same thoughts about Peter and the possibility of lingering powers. Remember that we don't actually know exactly what his power is--we just all kind of decided to call him a "leech" based on the evidence we saw. But maybe it isn't as simple as that. Maybe not all the evidence is in? Thanks for the link to the Beeman article. I liked this bit, where he explains the NYC shoot: Also, how cool was the final sequence – Peter’s dream sequence in NYC – Like I say, HEROES is like a TV show, only bigger. We shut down 4 city blocks on a Sunday. We jammed the streets with empty cars to create a deserted, neutron bomb look. It was also the first time ever that the whole cast was together. We had cranes stedicams and three cameras - It was intense amount of work to do in one day… And beside the scene you saw Monday night there was a second version shot with more characters and more information which will be used in one or more future episodes So there's more scene we did not get to see--good to know. The French video seems to show some hints of what it will be. Interesting. I love that group photo on there--was nice to see all the main actors side by side and smiling like a big extended family. It'll look pretty sweet on the cover of some magazine. I'll probably have to buy that, just 'cause.
