Bah, looks like i have to go find those episodes. I hate life at the moment, i've recently moved into a house with three other people and i've not been able to sit through one single show without some sort of interruption since we got here. And it looks like i'm missing things that i don't even know i'm missing!
And yes, the "half DNA" Tat is an odd tranformation to have. Though i am loathe to call it that, as half of a DNA strand would be a helix, or spiral/coil and that looks nothing like one. The only thing that would give it away as single-strand DNA is the little nucleotide-looking things. Which, of course if it is single-strand DNA, then that suggests a virus, which would be an explaination of what caused their powers, but not why it's showing up everywhere... well except for with Druggie, i suppose he could be privy to even if it were a virus.
For someone who doesn't read comics, he sure does have the M.O. down pat. Showing the origins of all the heroes and none of the villains (unless Strippermom and/or Flighty Politician goes evil later that is, which also fits snugly with comic book lore.). But i suppose in this, as in the comics, if we knew what the bad guys were up to there'd be little mystery. It is, after all, called Heroes, and not Villains.

I read Claire's Myspace. I like that most of the people posting did it like she is a real person.

I hadn't realized this about Zach (I hope it is not a spoiler) but I assumed he was in love with Claire, only it turns out his sexual orientation is "not sure" (one glance at his favorite movies made me say, "Oh!" anyway). I don't think that's been established on the screen, so either some non-official person just made it all up for MySpace or NBC really is using other media to release character info. That's kind of fun. I thought the comic and Hiro's blog would be more superfluous than integrated, but maybe they really will leave relevant clues for us all in the non-TV side-stories. As to the DNA strand thingie appearing everywhere, does this remind anyone else of the Bad Wolf subplot from the Eccleston Dr Who run? I know that the creator said he has not been reading comics on purpose, but I wonder if he watched that show.

One can only hope they deal with the DNA strand as well as that.

If you read the miniblog on Zach's myspace, it gets even muddier about what his oriention is. "So we won the game, once again thanks to the heroics of Brody Mitchum. Claire of course was super excited and must have gone to the bonfire with him afterwards. While that crowd totally isn't my thing (ie. i'm a constant target for cheerleader hazing pranks), I do have to admit it that I wouldn't mind if I was there, even if just to see a certain someone..." I wonder if he turns out to be bi? That's not the kind of persn you see much of on tv shows. Unless it's some unbalanced person with sexual addictions who claims to be bi, but just doesn't care. I went back and forth on that first word from glasses man.. it just isn't clear enough. I'm just gonna wait for the rerun and try to remember to turn on closed captioning on the tv.

Ok and to add to the weirdness... I went back and watched episode 4 again. (ok, a couple of times) But Hiro's sword at the very end had that helix-like symbol on the handle?? I'm guessing once all the heroes come together we see more signifigance to it? In other words maybe the heroes all learn about it and adopt it as some kind of.. supergroup symbol?

Ok, I've read online that people are thinking the symbol is related to the "bad guys" since the weird guy working with Claire's dad has it on his necklace...
But the symbol also appeared in the dna info when Mohinder was using his dad's computer, on the map his dad had showing who had powers...etc. I think it's symbolic of the "x factor" the heroes have in their dna.
Least it seems like that to me anyway.

Did anybody else watch the marathon tonight on nbc? (Sunday night) They showed a brand new preview "upcoming months" style that had TONS of new things in it! Oh and tvguide did a cover story, and it's now posted online. www.tvguide.com/Magazine/Cover-Story/Everything after this line comes from the preview I saw, not sure if it's considered spoiler since ya know.. they showed it in a commercial and all. Niki's husband D.L. is coming! One scene in the commercial shows Mikah, her son saying to his dad "You've got a secret? So does mom." How does Mikah learn about mom's powers? or is he talking about her "job"? Much more of politican brother and his flying away from Claire's dad and power turner off-er guy. Man he flew faaaast! They show him landing at an angle so fast that he just slides forever across the ground kicking up huge clouds of dirt. Man it looked cool! Then a scene in some diner with Hiro talking to him and saying something along the lines of "I came cause I saw you fly" (fuzzy on the actual wording on that line) I'm gonna keep taking looks on the forums and youtube, and nbc's site to see if the preview pops up anywhere. I gotta watch it a couple of dozen more times to absorb it all. ;D

I watched most of the parts I had not seen twice already since no Simpsons was on. (I swear, I missed a few weeks of Simpsons due to being out of town and family stuff and now Fox is punishing me by never showing it again!) I keep thinking of the half-DNA emblem as an f-hole--you know the carved-out space on a violin that lets the sound resonate (I'm not saying bad words, Ecta!) But seriously, I just like saying the word "f-hole" and you should use it, too. Are all the Heroes American/Japanese people? Is something similar to this happening in Russia or China right now? Will they all descend eventually on Las Vegas? Wouldn't that be too much like Stephen King's The Stand?

Well we know that there are people with powers all over the planet, since the prof's map has pins all over the place and those are supposed to be people he identified with powers. Which brings up a question that's been bugging me... how exactly did the prof locate these people? we know he isn't in contact with them all so what did he do? Is he somehow tapping into medical records and looking at blood samples? (creepy) Or my personal theory is, what if he found this "patient zero" he calls Sylar... and Sylar has the ability to locate other people with powers? We know from the answering machine message that they did know each other. And in Sylars apartment was a big map that his son said had more pins on it than in the profs apartment. Sylar said something about the doctor "making him what he is" on the message, so did the prof somehow trigger the power in Sylar? And if the key that was found didn't unlock the door to Sylar's apartment.... what is it for? (ok, I've been way too sleep deprived cause I didn't even think anything dirty when I first read the "f-hole" comment! I need a nap lol )

Found the new preview! (here it comes.... ) home.comcast.net/~danielladel/Coming_Weeks.wmvHOLY MACARONI!!! That is so very cool! *gaspwheeze* Everyone download and take a look so we can disect it LOL . Actually this clip would be good for people who haven't seen the show yet to give a general idea of what it's like. Ok I gotta go back and look a few more times before I discuss details here. *edit* Ok I was watching the preview, and it had a guy in an orange prison uniform, holding a glass of water in his hand that was bubbling up like it was boiling. It looked familiar so I went back and sure enough... In episode 1 we first see Isaac destroying his paintings by throwing black paint all over them. (Simeone comes in and stops him) But the very first painting he slaps paint over is a close up of a hand holding a glass of water that's boiling. I just thought it was a pretty nice touch to do such subtle foreshadowing!

Whoa! Flyman can break the sound barrier? That surprised me. How does he keep his skin on? (He must have a force field while he's flying, one that turns off when he lands? That was the coolest landing I've ever seen a superhero do, incidentally.)
"That hurt more than I thought it would." LOL
What would Hiro top his waffles with?
The script is really starting to snap as the characters meet up. Flyman is finally somewhat (somewhat) likeable, when he's nice to Hiro. It's a nice side to him.
BOO-KASHHH!
The visualization of Leach Guy seeing the unfinished painting was nicely done. It's good they finally gave him something to actually do.
Now the problems:
Never mind how Ando got Nikki's address (maybe he's really good with computers, but I just don't see that happening) but why would he just walk in her back door? Is he really that naive as to think a CyberHooker really loves him, anyway.
Why the Hell did the cop pick up that gun! Maybe we can blame it on his murky headache. But please. . . anybody could see that one coming, and the cliche has already been done once in this series with Hiro when he found art guy's body. Harumph.
The end was pleasing, though. And I just realized from seeing the previews that Claire is the only who hasn't met any other heroes yet. Poor thing--she probably has no idea she's not the only super person. No wonder she's freaking.

Ando did mention finding Niki's address online through whois. (when he was handcuffed to the chair in her kitchen)
OMG seeing that man fly!! And the LANDING! Wow.... that's all I'm sayin.
Oh and seeing the painting scene gave me chills! It just seems they got a handle on how to use (and not overuse) special effects for this series. I'm stuck now with the notion that since Peter was able to paint tonight after leeching Isaacs power.. Does this mean Isaac's having to use drugs to paint is just some kind of mental block? I mean we now know the power works fine without drugs... so what's going on?
Oh and scary necklace guy who works with Claire's father? I am sooo glad we got the answer to what his powers really do. That was bugging me. But why did Claire's dad take Matt then let him go? Was he testing his powers, then erasing his memory so he wouldn't know who kidnapped him? Still many questions.
While we are on the subject of Claire's dad... can I still hate him? I really wanna hate him alot. But after tonight he scored big points with me. So I'm torn.
*edit*
You soooooo know Hiro would get waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. I mean c'mon!
*second edit* Future Hiro mentioned having to get back to his own time quickly so he wouldn't "cause a rift"?? Does he do something that messes up the timeline at some point? I mean he already is changing the future he saw by going to new york with Ando, and trying to save Isaac (and the cheerleader). Is he refering to that? By saving Isaac and the cheerleader does he muck something else up?? *brain explodes*

I'm wondering what's up with Mohinder? What's the deal there, he risks his life trying to find these people then when he does he's like, "meh, it's not worth going across town a second time." i mean, granted from his point of view, he did find the one super hero who can't really 'do' anything. I've always thought that Nurse Man and Druggie would make the perfect match though. But then that brings up the girlfriend subject, if Druggie doesn't have to be on drugs anymore is she gonna go back to him, and if she does won't that make it a little uncomfortable having Nurse Man there all the time painting the future? I kinda feel sorry for Nurse Man as it is. It must suck to have his power. Say, he's in a bar picking up some chick...
Nurse Man: "Yeah i have super powers." Chick: "Oh really? Cool, what are they? Let's see." Nurse Man: "Oh well, first we gotta find another super hero, 'cause ya see, mine are kinda contingent on someone else being super powered." Chick: ... Nurse Man: "No really, just get on the subway with me, and we'll go across town to the seedy underbelly of manhattan where i know this druggie who paints pictures of young highschool girls getting raped and killed. I'll show you my powers there." Chick: "Security!"
Great show btw, can't wait for more. Once again must re-watch 'cause i know i missed stuff, due to undesirable interruptions. Oh and as for Future-Hiro He probably finds that jumping in and out of the space-time continuum all willy-nilly causes the 'rifts'. I was going to suggest they would probably do something along these lines to keep him from being too all-powerful. BS if you ask me, but maybe it's just a Ray Bradbury "The Veldt" kind of rift that he speaks of. Which would be totally accpetable.

They kind of hinted in the TV Guide article that the show could take it to where they heroes lost and Hiro had to come back in time to set things right.
They also mentioned that NY isn't the only thing that will go BOOM if it does go bad.
So Hiro is trying to change time, without messing things up further.
Claire's dad let Brody off light. I woudn't have erased his memory. I would have found someone with a terrible rape trauma and had my lackey take her memories, feelings and such from the event and implanted them into Brody so that he could experience it from her point of view and then had it loop over and over.

1. Yikes! I don't want you guys on my sentencing jury is I ever commit a crime. But to be fair, I don't want me on my jury either! I once had jury duty in Georgia, and when I walked into the courthouse, I locked eyes with the person who turned out to be the defendant in a trial on the charge of "Receiving Stolen Goods," and in that one brief instant I had decided she was guilty of something, before I even knew she was the Defendant! Needlesss to say, I wasn't picked for the jury. Oh, having said that, I'm not disputing the Guilty verdict here, I'm just frightened of your punitive angle. I think the kid deserves it, too. But Eternal Punishment doesn't appeal to me. Bad punishment, sure, but a time loop? That's pretty angry. (I respect your opinion, though. Totally. And might feel the same way if it happened to me.) I am glad the rapist came face to face with the girl's father, though. THAT should always happen. 2. Does this mean Isaac's having to use drugs to paint is just some kind of mental block? I mean we now know the power works fine without drugs... so what's going on? That immediately struck me as one of the most believable bits in the show. It's totally psychosomatic, I believe, simply because he is an addict, and that's all there is to it. I can't recall all the times I've studied the biography of a musician or writer who was hooked on drink or drugs and felt they had to have their substance to do any "good" work. The addict feels the creativity is state-dependant, when in truth it's just the addiction finding an excuse to lure them back in. Breaking through this and letting himself be a real painter without using smack is actually the biggest hurdle anyone in the show right now has to face--in my opinion, travelling back in time and saving the world from nuclear devastation would be the much easier task! This handling of the addict story is actually one of the best bits of writing in the whole series, simply because they're being so subtle about it and have actually got most of the viewing public believing the lie, that Isaac has to be high to use his powers. People usually beat you over the head with a "Don't Do Drugs" message, but in this telling, the viewer is along for the ride, fooled into thinking the drugs are the key to the power just like the user believes! Then when he learns the truth, we'll all see it as well, and everyone will EXPERIENCE the message instead of being TOLD the message, which is what story-telling is all about. So, Kudos! 3. If you haven't seen this weeks comic yet (and I almost did not look, myself, since last week's comic did not load for me until yesterday morning so I had lost faith in looking) check out THIS: www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/novel_005.shtmlIt's quite an eye-opener! I had no idea they were going to go this direction with the character, so I'm pleased. I thought it was cut-and-dried that he was a baddie, so the show definitely fooled me.

I thought the comic was a nice touch actually. Of course it raises the BIIIIIG question now. If He was framed.... was it Niki? I seriously am pulling for Isaac to kick the drugs now. Billie you nailed it right on the head! I think you're right about the story. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it goes in that direction. Is it just me, or was episode 5 all about changing people's opinions about character's? D.L (in the comic at least) seemed to really be a good guy who was framed. Isaac is more than a Junkie now we see he really wanted to kick the drugs. Peter turns out to be a stronger person than we first saw. Claire isn't going to turn into a bloodthirsty killer (thank goodness). Nathan turns out to be smarter/nicer than expected. Claire's dad actually redeemed himself with his actions against the rapist. ( Am I alone in thinking he was treating Nathan with kid gloves as well? I mean he really could have shot him at different times, but chose not to?) And Mohinder... well he gets scared and gives up. Watched episode 5 again and I have one question that's starting to bother me. Are Niki and Ando going to get together?? Sounds silly I know since he's pretty much just a stalker at this point. But I just can't help but think they should get together. Am I crazy? Anyone else think the writer's are steering in that direction?

Ok, wait, so so lost. I thought DL was on the run for killing the members of his crew. And i also thought that we knew it was Stripper Mom that really did it since they were burried in the same place that she burries her casualties? So i'm a bit confused with this whole 'robbery/murder' thing? Do the cops not know that his crew has been killed? 'Cause didn't Stripper Mom tell her friend something to that effect (only blaming DL, of course), even bringing one of their rings back for show and tell? So i guess if the crew stole the money, and Stripper Mom killed the crew, then where is the money!?

Black Mr. Clean seems to be a psi user who can alter memories as well as read minds. They drugged the cop in the bar.
Anyone else notice the differences in dialog between epsiodes where someone will say something at the end of one ep. and at the beginning of the next ep. they will reshow it with different dialog?
Claire: Holy Shi....!!! Claire: Oh God!!!
I wonder if that is intentional and they are trying to show minor changes due to the time stream being manipulated.

"They cheated us!! He didn't get out of the Cockadoodie car!!"
But yeah, i noticed that as well. What's even worse is that they're trying to put off the comics like they're an extension of the show or whatever, but things happen in the comic that make what happens in the show impossible.

At least Claire didn't die again in this episode. I was beginning to think it was going to be an ongoing thing. Peter: They killed Claire! Hiro: You Bastards! Yikes, that observation is so spot-on. That is exactly what I'm afraid they'll do if the writing gets lazy, just use Claire for the Scare-of-the-Week. That would completely diminish interest in her character for everyone, if she's just a pin cushion. But unfortunately that is her only power--it's not like she can pop out her Adamantium claws and get in a nice long fight to create excitement. Will her limited utility force them to write her into a corner? (Even Kenny got to die and go to Heaven and lead God's forces into battle against Hell in one episode, but I don't see that happening for Cheerverine.) That's why I was so pleased when she did the thing with the car (i.e. slamming it into a wall for revenge against her own passenger). That was a genuinely clever application of the ability. But what else can they dream up to keep it all fresh?

Thanks for pointing that out, Ecta. I got a bunch of the nifty wallpapers. Meanwhile, Hiro finally updated his blog this week (at least, it just showed up for me)! Go here: blog.nbc.com/hiro_blog/I like how he persists in using gamer terms that would confuse other folk. "He said he wouldn't join my party to stop the explosion, but he said maybe later. It would be great to have him in our party. He's going to Vegas and he likes to fly so he's our Setzer Gabbiani. Slot attack! (^o^)" Also, Hiro seems to think Nathan Petrelli wears his pajama bottoms as a costume when he flies. He's definitely played too many games! Tonight I saw a guy who looked alarmingly like Hiro, right down to the glasses and big innocent smile, and was gonna point it out to the guy next to me, but realized he wouldn't know what the hell I was talking about.
